Vice Versa

"Sense versus non-sense… Logical and irrational… And how human beings relate the one to another are the main subjects of my latest series of artwork, collectively called “Vice Versa”.
Seemingly accidental and random objects combine into various structures and scenes interacting with each other in unpredictable ways and redefining themselves over again in new context. By taking the objects out of their mundane and familiar surroundings, I'm eager to explore how human’s psyche would reflect on it and what it will come up with in terms of giving it a new meaning.
I’m curious about our subconscious and mind. Our mind is constantly rationalizing, trying to define a pattern, a familiar memory to associate with and make a sense out of. I’m engaging a dialogue between the viewer and the artwork. Between the irrational image and a logical mind of a human being.
While creating these series I found it quite challenging to completely detach from the known and reasoned way of thinking – the “normal” way of thinking, I should say, and explore beyond it. I had to open up my mind and let the subconscious do the work without really “thinking” about it. I’ve tried to improvise and see what happens by playing with various objects and their relationship with each other, being a witness of the dialogue that happens between them.
Infinite are ways of relating and interconnecting objects and events, consequences and reasons. There is a myriad of definitions and interpretations, each and one of them is being based on our individual experiences and unique to the one experiencing it. Therefore, the way you and I would be able to look at these collages would always and only be from a strictly subjective point of view, each and every one of us would be creating and giving it a unique, one of a kind interpretation as intimate and personal as our lives themselves. Every art piece creates its own story within a story, adds on extra layer of meaning depending on the viewer experiencing it.
So, I should say: amazing is the ability of a human mind to make sense out of non-sense… and vice versa…”
